The 48/6000/100 Multi RS Solar intelligently combines the functions of a powerful 6000VA 48V pure sine wave inverter, a sophisticated 100A battery charger which features adaptive charge technology, and dual 3kW MPPT trackers with up to 450V input in one single unit. This makes the Multi RS Solar ideal for applications with limited space, and allows you to have a more compact and easy-to-troubleshoot system, especially since using this inverter-charger will require fewer cables compared to using separate units (i.e., separate inverter, battery charger, and MPPT solar charge controllers).
This inverter features the rare and unique ability to power AC appliances without connection to a battery - directly from solar power - ideal for an initial system setup with ability to expand with storage added later.
Key functions:
1. 6000VA 48V pure sine wave inverter: Converts DC current into 230VAC mains electricity to run a wide variety of household and professional appliances such as TVs, computers, lighting, power tools, fridges, and more. Capable of generating 4600W to 5200W (46VDC to 52VDC) of continuous power with a strong peak power handling capability of 9000W (to start demanding appliances such as pumps, compressors, or motors). As a pure sine wave inverter, it delivers superior performance compared to modified sine wave models, ensuring high efficiency and full compatibility with sensitive electronics.
2. Adaptive 100A 4-stage smart battery charger (bulk – absorption – float – storage): Designed to provide safe and efficient unattended charging of 48V battery banks. Its microprocessor-controlled adaptive charging system can be tailored for various battery types, while automatically optimising the charging process based on usage.
3. Two independent 3kW MPPT trackers up to 450V: Provides exceptional flexibility when designing and configuring your solar array. Each tracker can accept up to 3000W of solar input power, allowing multiple high-voltage panel strings to operate independently and at their optimum power point. By tracking each solar array separately, the system can maximise energy harvest even when panel strings are installed at different orientations, tilt angles, or experience varying levels of shading. With a combined maximum charging power of 6000W, this advanced dual-MPPT design helps ensure the highest possible solar yield and overall system efficiency in a wide range of installation conditions.
4. Dynamic operating modes: The hybrid inverter can work in 5 different modes to suit a wide array of installations requirements:
- Hybrid mode - Excess solar energy is stored in the battery and utilised during the night or periods of high demand. Also supplies additional power from the battery when demand exceeds grid capacity.
- Back-up mode - Acts as a UPS system ready to provide power in the event of a power outage.
- Off-grid mode - Provides power directly to AC loads without a grid connection required.
- Generator mode - The generator is controlled via the Multi RS hybrid inverter to minimise running time. Additional power from the battery is supplied when demand exceeds the capacity of the generator.
- PV inverter mode - Functions as a solar inverter without a battery connection to provide power directly to the loads/grid connection.
Additional intelligent features:
In addition to the above, the Multi RS Solar offers several additional features and customisable settings that provide a range of useful applications and enhanced functionality; these include but are not limited to:
- PowerControl: This feature allows the user to set the maximum AC input current to be drawn by the Multi RS Solar, for the battery charger and the connected AC loads consumption, and gives priority to the AC loads. This way, the inverter-charger prioritises the power/current supply to the connected AC appliances, and whatever current is “left over” is used to charge the batteries. This keeps your system from overloading the AC supply (e.g., generator or shore supply) and prevents the circuit breaker from tripping. This feature requires the Multi Control Panel (not included).
- PowerAssist: This feature allows the Multi RS Solar to supplement the capacity of the AC power source. Meaning, in the case of the AC appliances requiring more current than the AC source can supply, the Multi RS Solar bidirectional converter operates as an inverter, in parallel with the AC input, and provides additional current from the battery to meet the AC load current demand. Once this demand decreases, the spare power from the AC source is used to recharge the battery/battery bank. In applications where peak power is required only for a limited period, the PowerAssist feature allows you to use a smaller generator to power your equipment; or, alternatively, it allows more to be achieved from a limited shore.
- Programmable relay: The Multi RS Solar is equipped with a programmable relay which can be programmed for all kinds of applications, such as providing a start/stop signal to a generator. By default, the programmable relay is set as an alarm relay; i.e., the relay will de-energise in the event of an alarm or a pre-alarm (inverter almost too hot, ripple on the input almost too high, battery voltage almost too low).
- Extendable PV capacity (AC-coupled or DC-coupled): The integrated 6 kWp PV capacity can be extended by adding additional solar chargers to the system. Alternatively, the solar capacity can be extended by installing PV inverters, of which the output power will be automatically controlled by the integrated frequency shift power control.
- 3-phase operation capability: The inverter-charger can be connected in parallel with 2 more identical devices to achieve higher power output. Operation in 3-phase wye (Y) configuration is also possible. A standard RJ45 UTP cable is required for parallel and 3-phase operation (not included).
- Inbuilt safety protection: The unit offers complete protection against potential hazards such as output short circuit, overload, battery overvoltage & undervoltage, overheating, 230 VAC on inverter output (e.g., from another AC source), and input voltage ripple that is too high.
- WeakAC: Strong distortion of the input voltage can result in the charger hardly operating or not operating at all. If WeakAC is turned on, the charger will also accept a strongly distorted voltage, at the cost of greater distortion of the input current.
- BatterySafe mode: If, in order to quickly charge a battery, a high charge current in combination with a high absorption voltage has been chosen, damage due to excessive gassing will be prevented by automatically limiting the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage has been reached.
- The Storage mode: The Storage mode kicks in whenever the battery has not been subjected to discharge during 24 hours. In the Storage mode float voltage is reduced to minimise gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to “equalise” the battery. This feature prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulphation, 2 major causes of early battery failure.
- Bulk protection: When this setting is turned on, the bulk charging time is limited to 10 hours. A longer charging time could indicate a system error (e.g., a battery cell short circuit).
- Temperature compensation: The temperature sensor (supplied with the product) serves to reduce charging voltage when battery temperature rises. This is particularly important for maintenance-free batteries, which could otherwise dry out by overcharging.
- Remote monitoring and control: When coupled with a GX device (e.g., Cerbo GX Mark 2) you can monitor and control your Multi RS Solar and your system locally (via the local LAN/Wi-Fi network) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app or the free VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC for multiple operating systems.
